I am really liking the CNN Eatocracy site and particulary the 5@5 lists. My favorite list so far is by James Oseland, the editor-in-chief of high-brow foodie journal 'Saveur' magazine and a judge on Top Chef Masters. His list, which includes Dr. Pepper and Swiss Miss vanilla pudding cups can be found here. I may not qualify as a full blown foodie, but I certainly have eaten my share of cuisine in my travels and in and around New York City. After careful consideration, here are my 5:
- Sunkist Orange Soda - Though both Fanta or Crush will do (clearly Britney is a Fanta fan), Sunkist is my favorite of all the orange sodas (known as Cplus in Canada). I remember sucking down this sweet, refreshing drink as a kid at birthday parties, usually through a cherry Twizzler I had carefully bitten off at both ends to form an edible straw. It's the perfect accompaniment to a greasy meal in addition to being my favorite color!
- Domino's Cheesy Bread - Forget the crappy pizza at Domino's, it's the cheesy bread that's the real star! I had briefly considered joining a Facebook fan page for this heart-clogging appetizer, but stopped myself out of the sheer embarassment. I used to be a fan of the Olive Garden breadsticks, but these one-up those pale sticks of bread and add lots of baked-on gooey cheese. Thankfully, I would not want to be caught walking into the Domino's and the cost of this treat is far below the delivery minimum.
- Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese - As much as I love a fancy mac and cheese with mouth-watering blends of sharp cheddar and gruyere, but when I'm in need of some serious comfort, nothing does it for me more than this boxed mac and cheese that comes with a foil pouch of Cheese-Whiz like goo. I remember eating this in university post break-up in bed right out of the pot. Cheaper than therapy and far more effective I think.
- McDonald's French Fries - I'm not really ashamed to love them since almost everyone I know can agree that these are some damn good fries!
- Nachos - Anyone who knows me knows I'm obsessed with nachos. Any kind really, from generic bar nachos to taco bell nachos, they're all good to me! Their crunchy, salty, hot cheesy goodness instantly put me in my happy place. It always makes me a little sad when they start to congeal and get soggy.
